Position: Mechanic – Full Time Temporary
Department: Public Works

Job Function: Performs maintenance and repair of rolling stock. Performs maintenance, service and repair of stationary equipment and machinery and motorized portable units. Orders necessary parts and materials with the Supervisor’s approval.

Required Skills: Skill requirements for this position are generally associated with levels attained through dual Journeyman qualifications as a licensed Motor Vehicle Mechanic (Class “S” or “T”) and Heavy Duty Mechanic, with three to five years related experience after completing an apprenticeship in order to understand the technical operation of electrical, mechanical or heating/cooling systems; to diagnose faults, failures of wear; determine appropriate corrective action; and, organize necessary materials and tools to carry out corrective action. Requires Grade 12 minimum. Other combinations or formal schooling and experience may be considered equivalent.
Wage: As per the collective agreement
