Our community has access to a variety of organizations that offer services to assist entrepreneurs or existing businesses.

Manitouwadge Economic Development Corporation

The Manitouwadge Economic Development Corporation has a Community Stabilization Fund and is able to invest money in our community for Economic Development or to Non-Profit Organizations.
 
Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC)
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) is proud to be a vital component of the Northern Prosperity Plan. For more than 20 years, we’ve worked with northern entrepreneurs and businesses to foster private sector job creation while supporting critical infrastructure and community development projects that build a foundation for future economic growth and enhanced quality of life.
The NOHFC is pleased to offer six unique programs to help create sustainable jobs for northerners and foster hope and opportunity across Northern Ontario.

Superior North CFDC

Superior North CFDC supports community economic development by assisting municipalities located within its catchment area to strengthen and diversify their economies. One of the main ways this is accomplished is through assistance to local businesses with

concerns regarding access to capital, business planning, and general business advice. As a community-based, non-profit organization, Superior North CFDC is run by a board of local volunteers. It is staffed by professionals who encourage entrepreneurship and the pursuit of economic opportunities.

Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre

The Thunder Bay & District Entrepreneur Centre is funded through a partnership between the Province of Ontario and the City of Thunder Bay . We exist to offer free and confidential small business counselling services to both new and existing small businesses. Our services vary from providing information on various business topics to one on one consultation with a Small Business Counsellor.

We also offer:

  • Various Small Business Seminars

  • Guides and information packages specific to starting a business in Northwestern Ontario

  • Information on government programs and services and other financial programs

  • Assistance with preparing a business plan

  • Referrals to various agencies or resources

Canadian Youth Business Foundation

We are the Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF), a national charity providing start-up mentoring, financing and business resources for young Canadians, age 18-34, to create their own successful businesses.

The Innovation Centre acts as a pivotal player in growing Northwestern Ontario’s innovation capacity. We offer support to innovative entrepreneurs, businesses, and community projects in the region of Northwestern Ontario.
